Finding Financial Peace God’s Way: Part 2
In the last issue of Living Real, I shared a shift in my thinking about financial peace. I used to view financial peace as an accumulation of wealth. But with each financial goal reached, I set another and another. As I found myself treating the accumulation of money as the source of my peace and not God, my mindset changed. Through His Word, God showed me that money is simply a tool He’s entrusted me with, and how it’s not a source of peace or contentment. He is.
I also shifted how I approached financial stress. Before, unexpected bills or setbacks threw me into a spiral of worry. But as I began to trust God more deeply, I started to rest in His promises. Philippians 4:6–7 was a constant reminder:
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God…will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
That kind of peace didn’t come from numbers—it came from contentment.
Our book, Financial Harmony, Personal Fulfillment helps you consider practical changes that reflect this spiritual transformation. I made intentional choices with my money. I stopped trying to impress people and started living within my means—not because I had to, but because I wanted to. I asked God for wisdom with every financial decision, no matter how big or small. That prayerful approach brought clarity, patience, confidence, and, you guessed it, harmony and fulfillment.
Today, I’ve been blessed; but, more importantly, my heart is at peace. I no longer feel pressure to prove myself through possessions or net worth.
If you're tired of constant striving and feel like peace is always just out of reach, I encourage you to pause and consider what you’re chasing. Contentment and fulfillment aren’t just feel-good ideas—they are life-changing truths that can transform your financial life from the inside out.
I’ve learned that peace isn’t something we achieve—it’s something we receive when we trust that God is enough. And when we do, everything changes. We live in freedom. And we find the fulfillment God created us for.
