Tell ‘Em All About It!

I’ve got great news to share with you!

Earlier in my life I was diagnosed with a terminal illness, but last I checked, I’m completely healed. I’ve been telling everyone about it because it is so exciting and means everything to me. You see, my whole soul was infected with sin, leaving me with the prognosis of eternal death. However, I repented of my sin, chose to put my faith and trust in the Great Physician, and by His grace, He healed me of my disease. I am no longer destined for eternal death. I have been given the promise of eternal life.

As believers in Jesus Christ, we have the greatest news ever—news that’s not meant to be kept to ourselves, but shared.

We have the transformative power of Christ through the Holy Spirit living inside us. His power brings life! And with that life, we have joy beyond measure, peace that passes all understanding, and hope for an eternal future with our loving Creator. If you know the Great Physician personally, you also know He’s equipped us with all we need to share our good news with those He places in our path.

I bet you told the entire neighborhood and the grocery store cashier when your kid hit the winning homerun. You likely told your entire Backgammon Club and the FexEx guy that your cat had kittens. Of course you posted a hundred photos online of that trip you can’t seem to stop talking about. But did you tell those same people about Him? The One who saved your life from certain death and destruction? Did you tell them that He can save them, too? And that it doesn’t cost a dime?

We have something of eternal worth to gift to those around us every day. So, why do we shy away from sharing the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ? You don’t have to search out a hardcore atheist, walk them through Genesis to Revelation, and then pray with them “the sinner’s prayer”. You just have to tell people what Jesus has done for you.

If you want to build up some courage, start by asking the elderly gentleman in the parking lot if you can take his shopping cart back to the Cart Return for him, and then tell him, “Jesus loves you,” as he walks away. Or when you notice a waitress having a hard day, ask if you can pray for her, and then actually pray with her right there or as soon as she leaves the table. Sharing can also be a response. Like my friend, Mickey. When asked how he’s doing, he always replies with a chuckle and a grin, “I’m blessed by the Best.” It really is that simple. Show God’s love with joy, and if someone comments on your gleeful attitude, the door has been opened for you to share where your love and joy come from.

We are called to spread Gospel seeds. God will cultivate and grow those seeds as He sees fit, but we are to scatter as many seeds as possible. Did you know Gospel seeds are incredibly powerful? God reminds us of this in Isaiah 55:11(ESV):

“My word shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which
I sent it.”

It’s His Word we get to share with people. His Word promises to transform lives. We just have to share it and let God do the rest.

You have the best news the world has ever known. Don’t be the friend who wastes time talking about their extravagant vacation which doesn’t offer any eternal benefits. Be that patient, but persistent, friend who’s always talking about what Jesus did and continues to do. You never know when God will heal another soul and then they too will go and tell someone all about it.
