The Doors are Open! A Long-Awaited Answer to Prayer
After years of prayer, planning, perseverance, and faith, we are humbled and overjoyed to finally share this long-awaited news: the doors of Karis Home are officially open!
Karis Home was created to meet a critical and heartbreaking need—safe, restorative housing for minor female survivors of sex trafficking. Licensed through the Department of Social Services, Karis Home is Lighthouse for Life’s group home and safe house serving girls ages 12–21 who have endured unimaginable exploitation and trauma. For their protection, the home is located in an undisclosed location, ensuring the safety and privacy every survivor deserves.
This opening represents far more than just an open door. It marks the fulfillment of a God-given vision: a place where young girls can find refuge, stability, and the opportunity to heal. What began as a burden placed on our hearts has, by God’s grace, become a tangible home filled with hope!
The journey to this moment has not been easy. There were delays, challenges, and seasons where the road ahead felt uncertain. Yet again and again, the Lord proved faithful. He provided resources, opened doors, and brought people alongside us at just the right time—supporters, donors, volunteers, and prayer warriors who believed in this mission and refused to let it go.
Now, Karis Home stands ready to serve. Within its walls, girls will find safety, consistency, and compassionate, trauma-informed care. They will be met not with judgment or labels, but with dignity, patience, and love. Karis Home exists to support healing—emotionally, physically, and spiritually—while helping survivors begin to rediscover their worth, their voice, and their future.
Karis Home is also uniquely equipped to support each girl’s educational journey. The home houses its own private, on-site school, designed to protect residents’ safety while meeting their individual academic needs. Many of the girls who come to Karis Home have experienced significant interruptions in their education and may not be at the academic level typically associated with their age.
By offering education on site, our Education Facilitator is able to create individualized learning plans, allowing each girl to grow at a pace that is appropriate, supportive, and empowering—helping her reach her full academic potential.
This opening is only the beginning. Each girl who walks through these doors carries a story that matters, and each step toward healing is a testament to resilience and hope. Karis Home is a reminder that freedom is possible, restoration is real, and light can shine even in the darkest places.
As we celebrate this milestone, we do so with deep gratitude and a renewed commitment to the work ahead. Today, we give thanks for answered prayers. Today, we open doors to safety and healing. And today, we declare with confidence that the light is shining brighter than ever at Karis Home!
