Letter From the Editor: Fall 2022
The chill in the air reminds us we’re in a season of change. Moving from summer to fall and fall to winter are seasonal changes I get excited about. Swapping out sandals for boots, t-shirts for sweatshirts, and cold coffee for hot? Oh yeah.
One in a Million: Lexington Medical Center Welcomes Identical Triplets
It’s something that happens in about one in a million births. And it happened at Lexington Medical Center on January 3, 2022. Ellie Min and her husband Eric Jung of Chapin welcomed identical triplet daughters. Statistics show that only four sets of identical triplets are born in the United States each year.
Healthy Choices for the Entire Family
As parents, we quickly realize the huge responsibility bestowed on us. One of the most important gifts we can offer our children, besides the love of Jesus, is to teach and model good health practices. Providing a safe, stable environment for our children also includes serving them the best foods possible to nourish the growth of their bodies and minds.
The Opioid Crisis
Josh was finally “done, finished with drugs.” This was a huge relief for his father, Eric Bedingfield, the then-State Representative from Greenville County. Josh had struggled with drugs growing up, but his life was beginning to turn around.
The Lion King
Did you know there’s a Lion King inside God’s story of redemption in the Bible? Actually, the story involves two lions. These lions are at odds with one another. One is the essence of good and the other of evil.
Parenting: A Sacred Assignment
If Children are the hope of the future, then parents are their hope for the present. It’s time for this present generation of parents to assume their sacred position—to fight against and protect their children from the lies of the evil one and instill in them the Truth of the Holy One.
Letter From the Editor: Spring 2022
While rays of sunlight dance like diamonds on lakes, rivers, and oceans, there is a dark cloud looming overhead. Our spiritual enemy is working furiously to lure our most precious of blessings, our children, away from God’s truth, love, mercy, and grace.

Take Your Kids to Church
Make the effort. Wake them up early. Fool with the belts and the buckles and the fancy hair bows. Endure the sleepy, grumpy faces and the misplaced shoes. Run around like a mad woman gathering everybody’s everything, whatever it takes to get out the door on time.
Life Is Worth Fighting For
In 2004, in the state of Georgia, a 16-year-old girl ran away from home. Finding herself pregnant and on the streets, she knew her parents would not want another child to care for.
Addicted: A Story of Hope
My name is Carey, and I’m a former addict.
It’s only by God’s grace that I’m even able to write this article. As I write, I am into my eighth month of victory over a 10-year drug addiction. An addiction that consumed every aspect of my life. At any given moment, I could have ended my life. It all started with marijuana use and quickly progressed into an opioid habit.

Holy Pause — Holy Purpose
Can we agree that few things in life require more intentionality than planting a garden? First, we choose the proper plants and seeds. Then we scout out the perfect sunny spot with semi-decent soil, add organic matter, dig the hole, and plop our plants in at just the right depth.
Remember Jenny: An Open Letter to Her Daughters
When someone touches your heart as deeply as Jenny touched mine, you want the world to know her.
Her faith. Her resilience. Her legacy.
With no open microphone at her memorial, nor the opportunity to play the hymn she requested, my heart ached to express all Jenny’s life taught me.
Through this letter, written to her precious daughters, I pray you will also remember Jenny.
My Watershed Moment: From Tragedy, a Calling
From my desk, I could see the office park pond through the wall of windows. Its tranquility belied the tumultuous day ahead—not just for me, but for our nation. The workday had barely begun when tragic news spread through the office. I pulled up a news site on my computer to watch the surreal footage for myself. As an airplane pierced a New York City skyscraper, I covered my mouth in horror, then continued to watch in disbelief as another plane hit the second of the Twin Towers. They both collapsed in flames, spewing a pulverized poison into the air. My heart went weak in the crush of an invisible hand as I realized, this was no accident.
Finding Zacchaeus to Seek & Save the Lost
Children love to sing about Zacchaeus – the wee little man who climbed a sycamore tree. He wanted to catch a glimpse of Jesus as he passed through town. I preached about him recently and God showed me so much more than those sweet lyrics about a somewhat diminutive little fellow sitting in a tree.
The Manhood Meltdown
Long before COVID-19, a pandemic of epic proportions began sweeping across our country. In its wake we now face a looming crisis pulling our society into a self-perpetuating, downward spiral.
Healthy Tips to Strengthen your Immune System
The immune system is a collection of interrelated cells, chemical messengers and other proteins, working together to protect the body against various bad actors including toxins and viruses. So, if the goal is overall good health, it makes sense to focus on building a stronger immune system.
Giggles in the Wind
Leaning back in my home office chair, I stretched long and breathed a deep breath into my tired lungs. I had been sitting for hours writing stories, answering emails, reviewing financial documents, reading Scripture, and sharing time with God.
A Pencil in His Hand: Bringing to Life the Children of the Holocaust
In January of 2017, I suddenly found myself with time on my hands and decided to learn to draw. I never took art lessons, but I had skimmed a library book on drawing years earlier and enjoyed thinking about it. Little did I know what God had in store.
